10 Rules to Make Your Writing so Persuasive People Can’t Ignore It

10 Rules for Making Your Writing Persuasive

All good writing is persuasive by definition.

Think about it. Would you read something that’s not enticing? With the millions of ways we can keep ourselves busy in today’s world, I certainly won’t.

I only read something when it’s so persuasive I can’t ignore it. And as a writer, my goal is to produce the same type of writing.

In fact, I believe every single word, sentence, and paragraph you write must be persuasive. Otherwise, it’s a waste of your time. Think of…

  • Email subject lines you write at work
  • Text messages you send to your partner, friends, co-workers
  • Ads of the things you’re selling on social media
  • Jobs you apply to

I can go on like that for a while. The idea is that you always need to be persuasive otherwise people won’t read your writing. And writing that gets ignored is bad.

The rest of this article contains 10 rules I’ve learned from writing persuasively. You can use these rules to inspire others to take action simply with your words.

5 Benefits of Writing That Lead to Financial Success

5 Benefits of Writing

I started writing every day in 2015 when I felt stuck in my career. That’s how I discovered the true benefits of writing.

Since then, every area of my life has improved including my finances. I realize you can’t attribute success to a single factor or habit so there’s more to it than writing alone.

But still, I believe that the skill of writing has been the primary reason I got unstuck and built my dream career. And that also came with financial rewards.

The financial benefits of writing are often lost when people talk about writing. They think it’s only for professional writers.

Or these days people think that writing is obsolete. “Who cares about writing if AI can do it for you?” As if writing is the same thing as vacuuming your house.

Sure, a robot can clean your floor and keep your house free of dust. But AI can’t improve your mind when it does your writing for you.

When you write more, you improve your mind. And when you improve your mind, you can achieve your goals, especially the financial ones. Here are 5 benefits of writing that lead to financial success.

How to Use Money as a Tool for Happiness and Fulfillment

Money as a tool

I’ve always tried to look at money as a tool, not an end. Since late 2021, I’ve probably spent more on travel than in the 5 years before 2020.

Part of it is because I didn’t travel due to covid. But I also was not traveling much before that anyway. I’ve been really focused on writing and creating courses since 2016.

So I traveled just once a year for a vacation. But in the past 18 months, I’ve probably spent six months abroad.

The other day I was calculating how much money I spent and thought, “Wow, I could’ve invested all that money and have more wealth later.”

This is the mind of an analytic person. Because I have that awareness, I stopped myself and remembered that accumulating money for the sake of having more is not my goal.

I consider myself a financially responsible person. I think 5 times before I spend. I don’t live an extravagant lifestyle. I enjoy small things. And I think it’s a virtue to spend wisely.

But sometimes I take it too far. So I always remind myself: Money is a tool, not an end.

How are you using money?

How to Use AI to Improve Your Writing

Improve Writing with AI

Every knowledge worker I know is totally mesmerized by the idea of writing content with AI. I’ve tried it for a while now and it can be helpful.

But if you use AI without a good strategy, you will simply waste your time. For example, look at what Jasper AI wrote as an intro paragraph for this article:

“AI is rapidly changing the way we live, work and communicate. From self-driving cars to virtual assistants, it seems like there’s no limit to what this technology can achieve. And when it comes to writing, AI is already making a significant impact.

Whether you’re a blogger, journalist, or copywriter, there are numerous tools available that can help you improve your writing skills and productivity. In this article, we’ll explore some of the ways in which you can leverage AI to take your writing to the next level. So if you’re ready to enhance your craft and streamline your workflow, read on!”

Not bad, right? But it lacks human connection. Every person (or AI) could write that paragraph. And for that reason, it will not stand out.

You read this because you want to hear my personal perspective on how you can use AI to improve your writing. You don’t want AI to tell you how to use AI.
