If I had been born earlier and started my career 15 or 20 years ago — I probably wouldn’t have become a writer. Back then, it was impossible to self-publish books and offer online courses.

But thanks to today’s technology and the internet, I’m grateful I can do what I do.

Whenever I hear people say, “Everything was better in the past,” I often think, “Maybe for you. But not for everyone.”

For many of us, life has definitely improved because there are more opportunities. Especially for minorities.

That doesn’t mean the present is perfect. But there are more good trends today than in the past. It’s all about understanding and preparing for all kinds of trends. Good or bad.

In my latest article, I talk about having a balanced past and present perspective so we can succeed today.

Wealth is all about providing value. When you can create value for someone, you don’t have to fear running out of money.

What’s valuable? Solving problems.

And to solve problems, we need skills!

And more specifically: Income-generating skills. There are skills you can use in the economy to earn money. Take copywriting skills, for example.

When you know how to write persuasively, you can use it everywhere. From writing pitch emails, cover letters, proposals, you name it. Copywriting is a skill you can use to get a job or grow your own business.

In this article, I share more income-generating skills that will give you more financial freedom.

One interesting thing

Speaking of careers, it’s also important to do something you love.

I recently read Catching the Big Fish by filmmaker David Lynch (Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks). I really like this quote from the book:

“Try to get a job that gives you some time; get your sleep and a little bit of food; and work as much as you can. There’s so much enjoyment in doing what you love.”

When you set up your life in a way that you enjoy each day of work, you feel more fulfilled. Even when you’re doing the harder parts of your job.
