I just finished the first draft of my book. Every time I have a lot of work or a big project, I rely on the Pomodoro technique to get things done.
I’ve been consistently using it for seven years now and it never fails to work. If you’re a long-time reader, you know I’m a fan of the Pomodoro technique. The idea is simple:
- Take a 5-minute break after every 25 minutes of work.
- Use an app to set the 25-minute interval. I use Be Focused.
- Assign just one task to every 25-minute interval.
- Don’t skip your breaks.
- Don’t check your email during your break.
- Take a 15-minute break after 4 intervals.
- Don’t accept interruptions or false emergencies when you’re in a 25-minute stretch.
- Set a daily goal. For example; doing 12 x 25-minute intervals results in 300 minutes of productive work.
If you have been using it in the past and stopped — try using it again. It’s still one of the best strategies for improving your focus and productivity.
How do you know if you’re ready to start investing? This is something many people spend too much thinking about.
In fact, they think for so long they end up not investing. To me, a person is ready if they have some basic knowledge of investing and finance.
You really don’t need to know everything before you invest. There’s no need to dig through all historical data and trends.
When you know the basics of investing and understand the fundamental principles of the market, you will have more peace of mind. You don’t easily get swayed by public opinion, the news, or armchair experts.
If you’re thinking of dipping your toes in investing, or if you’ve invested before and got burned and reluctant to invest now, check out these 4 things every investor must know.
One interesting thing
I’ve been watching the latest season of Stranger Things recently on Netflix. What I liked most is that the episodes are way longer than normal TV shows.
The creators are really redefining how long a show must be. Almost every other TV show is about 60 minutes per episode.
The latest Stranger Things episodes are between 80 to 150 minutes per episode. I love it when people ignore common rules and pave their own paths.
I wouldn’t be surprised if other shows follow their lead. This is how new trends start. With one person/group who does things differently.
