Wise: A complete productivity stack

In my experience, you do your best work when you’re in a good mood and you’re focused. The psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi called this state of mind “Flow.”

You can get into a Flow mind-state by having the right balance between challenge and skill level.

How do you know you have Flow?

When your work is effortless and you’re making progress. When you’re work is challenging, but not too hard.

The difficult part is that you’re never in a perpetual state of Flow. I always go in and out of that state. That’s because life is dynamic.

So we have to give ourselves enough time and space to optimize our life for Flow. More on that in my new article.

Wealthy: Wealth vs Money

I wanted to be rich so badly for my entire life.

In high school, I watched the film, Wall Street starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. It was supposed to be a cautionary tale about greed and insider trading in the stock market. But I saw the movie as an inspiration.

I wanted to be Gordon Gecko (played by Douglas), the crazy high-risk Wall Street trader. When I was 17, I got a job at a call center during the summer. I was on the phone every day, working double shifts. I thought that having more money was the answer to everything.

Now, 20 years later, I finally understand that being rich and having a lot of money is not the same as being wealthy.

You can also be rich and not wealthy.

At some point, we all realize that life is just a collection of our memories. More on that in my other new article.

One interesting thing

Here’s an idea from Epictetus that I want to share with you:

“You do not care if others think you are naïve or stupid. Your only concern is to keep your focus on yourself, so you don’t damage your progress.”

You’re a contrarian if you desire to live a simple life today. If that’s you, don’t let others tell you that you need to do more or acquire more. Focus on yourself.
