Do you care about what people think of you? Or are you often thinking about other people’s actions? Well, you’re not alone. While it might seem that people are selfish, most of us care a lot about what others think. If you take a closer look, you’ll see that everyone is affected by what other people think and do. Let me give you a few examples:
I can go on for a while. And I can’t say I’m immune to these thoughts. We all care about what others think because it’s part of our nature. Humans all have the drive to be accepted. That’s called Belongingness.
I used to have the urge to defend myself when others attacked or criticized my ideas. “I need to say something about this!” But now, I think, what’s the point? It’s not like you can change another person’s mind. When’s the last time someone said the following?
“Well, John and I disagreed about X. But John had such a good argument that he made me change my belief system. In fact, I’m going to change my entire life. John was so right!”
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard anything like that. People disagree with you all the time at work, at home, at the gym, etc. Why do we feel the need to defend our ideas? We’re held captive by our own ideas and try to convince others that our ideas are the best.
The purpose of this guide is twofold. First, I will define what procrastination is. Second, I share tested and proven ways to stop procrastinating.
Like my guide on improving productivity, this is a dynamic guide. I’ve been researching these concepts for 10+ years. I’ll continue to update this page as I find new ways to improve it. Feel free to bookmark this guide as a reference. I hope you find it useful.
I often hear people saying stuff like, “You don’t need to read non-fiction books anymore!” They pretend they somehow “graduated” from the whole personal development movement.
“I stopped listening to podcasts,” is another one of those statements. Every time I hear something like that, one word comes to mind: Arrogance.
When people say they are done with learning, what are they really saying? They are saying they are too good for the knowledge that other people are sharing.
They are saying, “I don’t need this. I know it better.” And that’s exactly the type of person I don’t relate to.
